I can't believe no-one has made this thread yet... :D

After a break I got into the game again and have been playing it like last two weeks straight...

... and I want to know - are there any other HotS playes out there? What's you impression of the game? Your favorite hero? Or perhaps your least favorite? What battlegrouds do you enjoy most?

I suppose I should start with me... well, I've been playing Lunara almost nonstop after her release. If I put aside how much I like her design (she's a dryad, daughter to a god and a half deer), I've been enjoying her unique movement and high mobility. If you are swift and have good reflexes, you can avoid almost anything and retaliate with damage over time. Of course any support is a hard counter to her...
Battlegrounds... I enjoy them more or less all, maybe except for Infernal Shrines... that map just doesn't fit me... also I haven't seen Haunted Mines for months... it seems as if the game removed it from map rotation...

And for those who for don't know what HotS is - it's a Multiplayer Online Battle Arena (MOBA) by Blizzard, which puts heroes from all the Blizzard universes to fight each on various battlegrounds with task to destroy enemy core. The game itself, compared to other MOBAs is simplier, yet with high skill ceiling, promoting teamwork and rewardnig good plays. It's really fun, you can check it out on it's official pages here!

Haunted Mines has been removed from the map rotation. To quote the Gravekeeper on Towers of Doom: "I'm not going back to those wretched mines!"

I really like Lunara as a character. She's probably the reason I tried playing for real. Only problem is she's not durable enough to be new player friendly, so I've had to really be careful trying to use her. Also, I wish Greymane was in Worgen form only.

As I said - I didn't play through November and part of December... now that you mentioned it I did search a bit and it turns out it really got removed from map rotation... exactly during the time I didn't play... though I couldn't not notice I didn't play it in like a month...
... well, it's a shame... I like that map and honestly, I don't see the problem devs had with too many maps...

Yeah, Lunara is kind of higher skill cap hero... and as it is with all such heroes - once you get used to them, it starts to be real fun! :D

I wouldn't think it was removed just because of there being too many maps. That's might be what Blizzard said was the reason, but then you'd have to ask why Haunted Mines over Shire, Hallow, and Bay (As those are all the first four maps of the game). Pretty sure balance reasons were a core issue. Apparently it was removed in a patch (the Cho'Gall patch to be precise) which made heroes stronger in the early game while increase early game death timer. In a small map like Haunted Mines that's a big deal. I also read that Sylvanas and Tassadar may have been causing issues with their strengths, Syl disabling buildings while Tass shields protecting them, and it was the least picked competitive map and the most snowball map overall. It makes for a pretty convincing argument...

I'd play it more if I had friends who liked Blizzard games. I have Cho'Gall from Blizzcon but ive never gotten to try them out. I mostly play dota. My experience with the game is very limited and I mostly played against bots. I dont own very many heroes, but Lili was the first Hero I got because I love the Warcraft Universe and I love Lili. I also have Abathur because I thought his playstyle was really interesting. Mostly just play Lili though.

I mostly main Anubarakh. Although if I'm going support I'll run Tassadar.

Whoa, Haunted Mines got taken out? Honestly I can't say I blame Blizzard, from my experience Haunted Mines could be damn near won by the first skull-collection objective if one team steamrolled the other.

Honestly, I've found myself trying to learn the Vikings. I like the mechanical skill necessary to play them properly, and I'd like to learn to get that skilled with them. Aside from that, I typically run with Lili or Reynor.

One of the devs recently commented on Haunted Mines when asked about why Mines was removed over Garden of Terror when a recent community census showed that Gardens of Terror was the least favourite map (2.6% for Gardens vs 7.2% for Mines, highest was somehow Cursed Hallow with 17.4%):
"We feel like we can fix Gardens to make it better. Mines needs more systemic alterations. Team is looking at Garden."

As for mains, I usually lean towards playing Specialists, heroes that are good duelists (good at 1v1s basically), and Kaiju Diablo...

I also got into playing after a bit of a break, and I tend towards the assassins and specialists. Still trying to wrap my head around warriors.
The Dragon Shire is a particular favorite of mine just because of how fast-paced the overall matches tend to be there. I just kind of play Heroes for fun, so it has a pretty high ratio of uptime doing "fun" things without really dragging on.

I go on and off with that game taking big breaks and small intensive play periods. Last time I played it I was pretty sad they added kills in to the game.

Yeah... more so it was one of HotS' main design ideas - promote team play by merging kills and assists and adding team level... there really is no "I" in "TEAM" but so many people didn't get it unless the game explicitely told them so... I used to take a short brakes from HotS to play a bit of LoL as few friends of mine like it better... it was about a week ago when one match got so unbelieveably toxic... in a video game... that I decided to not play that game anymore...

HotS isn't even close to how awful LoL community is... though you sure can meet a jerk from time to time even in Nexus...
