Zone of The Enders (Z.O.E)

So I beat the 1st game a few days ago and wanted to talk about it!. Being a huge fan of Metal Gear, I always knew of Z.O.E mainly from easter eggs hidden in each game from 2 onward and it being considered another Hideo Kojima game.

Although 1 was fun, I can see why people only cared about it for the MGS2 demo that came with it. And that's a shame because there's a nice story here! not as grand in scale and with unforgettable characters like Metal Gear has, but still!

Thankfully the 2nd runner (which I just started) improves almost every aspect of 1. I hope to relish every moment of it because

Oh man...Z.O.E. Now there's a throwback. Yeah, I remember this game very fondly. Short, but a ton of fun. My favorite weapon was always the boulder or whatever it was called. The ball the bounced off the ground and then flew at the target. Then I think it was lance was my second fav.

Funny enough, that's the one I was talking about when I said lance. I think that's what it was called. That or javelin or some such.

I can agree with you on the quality of Z.o.E. one, kind of skippable really. But #2 OHMYGOD, one of the best action games of all time. It's just get ready for a large difficulty spikes, the 25%-60% of the game is really brutal. I believe I summed it up best on another thread

Anyone ever play/heard of Zone of the Enders: the 2nd Runner? Amazing action game with probably the absolute WORST escort mission to be ever conceived in video game history. Ashley and EVA are nothing compared to this one. You're tasked with "escorting" the boss you are actively fighting, if she dies, you fail, if you die, you fail (obviously) the ONLY way to win is to parry her melee attacks with your melee attacks with a small window where if you're timing is a bit off one of you takes damage. She also loves to run and spam projectiles and if she feels like it, she can just kill herself, which by the time you react to her doing it, she just cut her own HP to half. Also once you get past that, you have to carry her disabled body straight up a purely vertical shaft.
