That image made me think of this:
I made a playlist of metal titled "The Greatest Greatest Hits". This was the first song I added.
This was a great animation AND music track. I ran across it some months ago, and for a while it was pretty much my favorite track at the time. Listened to it half to death though, so now while it's on my top list, I sometimes skip it.At the moment?
I once heard someone sing a karaoke version of this at a con. She nailed each and every single part. I didn't even know that was humanly possible.
Though technically, it's the Full Length Version that I'm listening to.

I generally hate japanese anime/movie/whatever songs, but this was one of the few I listened to multiple times. It's simply good, nothing more, nothing less.

I like the bits with the latin mixed in the most, I think. That would be the "Aeria gloris" bit. Maybe one of the reasons you like it more than most anime tracks is because...It's primarily in Russian? Well, Russian and English with that one bit of Latin.I generally hate japanese anime/movie/whatever songs, but this was one of the few I listened to multiple times. Actually, I never finished the anime either. I even got it on blu-ray ages ago, but haven't gotten around to watching it *sighs*.I don't think I ever watched through Elfen Lied, but that holy crap, you made me remember that song. I think I can count the number of anime openings I didn't skip on one hand (I don't really like the music), but this and GiS is on that small list. I think it may only consist these two.
Personally, I have nothing against japanese music, only against anime openings (endings have more music I like, though I can't remember any particular ones). That those two are my favourites are rather easy to pinpoint, as both are awesome. Most anime music have a certain....... flair to them that just irks me. Maybe I could describe them as wanting to be too catchy for their own good.Still, what are the odds that the two anime openings I mention are among the few you actually like a fair bit? Then again, neither are actually Japanese, so maybe you just really don't like Japanese language music for some reason?
Orchestral, you say?But I must ask how good are you with "orchestral"/composition songs.
