Star Fleet Battles

I have played a computer game called "Star Trek: Starfleet Command" since I was a kid. Recently I started learning how to play the Tabletop Board Game that SFC was based on: Star Fleet Battles.

I was wondering if anyone on this new forum has by chance played, or at least heard of, either game before.

I have a copy of Starfleet Battles somewhere. As much as I like the idea, I found it to be waaaay too finicky in execution for my tastes.
