So am I the only one here who isn't a brony?

I'm genuinely curious if there are any other non-bronies on this forum, since from what I can tell practically everyone on here is one. I'm not hating or anything, I have nothing against bronies, I knew that this game would have a lot of brony fans going in.

It just started out of the brony community, thet's why there is a brony majority. I can imagine it evening out after release however. And no, you're probably not the only one, the rest were just scared away by "enthusiasm" of the forumgoers :D

Who knows? Probably not, but at least a 80% of the people here is a brony.

I've seen a few people talk about who aren't pony fans.

TFH got the pony history and all, but on it's own it's pretty solid and I wouldn't mind if it separates all the moreso from Ponies.
It should definitely open up to a lot more general fans too when the game gets more public information out (example: release), what with this being a solid (and awesome) game on it's own and all.

Exbrony here. Was part of the fandom during the early years but started to lose interest after S3. At this point I couldn't care what direction the show is going or what the fanbase is doing these days.

Even if, hypothetically, this game had no direct history with Lawyer Friendly Equines, it still has a similar aesthetic. And as such, there is probably always gonna be a significant amount of overlap with the pony fandom.

I really hope that won't scare away a larger potential audience though. The OP being here in spite of not being a brony is encouraging at least. Hopefully others will follow.

Honestly, the fact that this used to be an Lawyer Friendly Equines-themed project made me concerned for its success in the early stages of its development before the Indiegogo campaign. I remember when the C&D hit and a large majority of bronies dropped interest in TFH because "It won't have ponies in it anymore."

I'd say a lot of the backers are bronies or former bronies. That's just how it goes considering the TFH's precursor. A fair few migrated over, and they're generally the ones that spread the word about the game and would naturally be among the first to buy/back it. To most everyone else it's some random fighting game that has cute quadrupeds instead of musclebound guys or skimpily dressed women, or what have you. It's an unknown property and a lot of people would just overlook it either because the aesthetic doesn't appeal to them, or they'd rather not take the risk of spending money before the game comes out and there are reviews. As the game gets closer to release, and is more polished and presuming it gets advertised enough I would imagine there will be more and more people who have nothing to do with the pony fandom getting interested.

Once it's out and (presuming) there are good reviews of it, there will be a large influx of people buying. I wouldn't be surprised if in the future, especially if the game ends up becoming a series, the non-pony fans (former or current) will end up outnumbered.

What are we defining as a 'brony'?

I've met people who love the fanfics but don't watch the show. Fandoms do that sometimes.
Ultimately, because of the sheer complexity and blurry lines on the subject, it's impossible to make a objective assertion of who is or isn't a brony. So basically it comes down to whether or not a person considers themselves a brony.

Though I will never understand why someone who might actively watch the show, and participate in fan content, will continue to claim their not a brony. I personally think they're just being insecure, but whatever. It's their business I suppose.

Personally, while I'm a brony through and through, I really want to see TFH gain popularity on its own grounds, and I'm concerned that potential fans might be put off by the brony demographic, even though it's incidental. I hope it doesn't happen, but knowing how subcultures work, I think it might. And that would be a shame.

The strange thing is that I've heard absolutely nobody in the Furry community talking about TFH at all. I thought it'd be right up their street.

Maybe it's just not really 'out there' as a game? I mean, it had a successful crowdfund and it's not totally unknown, but on the other hand it hasn't even been released as a playable beta yet.

I'm still interested in seeing what Season 6 brings myself, but as for this game, I probably would have never heard of it otherwise if I didn't follow Lawyer Friendly Equines or have prior knowledge of Fighting is Magic.

Well, labels come with baggage apart from their literal meaning. For example, I love my country, want to see it prosper and grow in all ways, and even served in its military . . . but I won't call myself a "patriot" because I connect the use of that label with reactionary right-wing plotholes who . . . well, who hold many ideas and attitudes that I don't like and don't want anyone associating with me.

Which is arguably just being insecure. :)

Absolutely not. There are plenty of people here who don't belong to any kind of internet subculture.
Well, I'm perfectly fine with that, but a lot of people seem to find it hard to conceive of existing without belonging to some "tribe" or other. I prefer to live so that my "mind is not for rent / to any god or government".

This.
I don't usually hang around on social sites. I have a Facebook, but that came from necessity since I have to be able to connect with coworkers before meeting them. I have a Twitter, but I rarely used it (and have stopped using it) except to promote my radio show and animation and to find out news about TFH. Very little to no internet subculture.
Although I am a fan of several TV and game series which can be prominently found on the internets.

I've watched the show a couple of times and I've come to the conclusion that Gottagofast is super cool but I don't consider myself a brony
Gottagofast is cool seems to be the general consensus, brony or not.

Alisister here since i really like Princess Moonbottom, Nightmare Moon and Princess Purple Smart but even though i love the 5 seasons, i still have bigger passions. Anyway you are definitely not the only one and it shouldn't matter since everyone is part of multiple communities and here we are gamers.

Can't say I've heard that particular term before, but appropriate for those like yourself that have a strong preference for alicorns (no love for Executive Mandated Toy Hoers? Princess of love gets none, the irony). Only ones I can think of are, of course, Brony and Pegasister.

Thing is, if the Lawyer Friendly Equines universe has 'dudebro' types I could totally see "Brony" being an actual in-universe term, much like how 'broseph', 'bromance', and of course the aforementioned 'dudebro' exist in ours.

Oh i do like Executive Mandated Toy Hoers, she is in 4th place with Trollestia aka Sunbottom Tyrant being 5th. She is a great troll but Executive Mandated Toy Hoers and Bookworm Hoers moments take the cake. Brony is universal but it's fun to have your own group :)

Meh, I dislike the show and honestly only take fun in toying around with the universe, (rper and writer for pony stuff occasionally) so I wouldn't call myself a brony. It's just one of those fandoms to wade through, like an interested sight seer who really tries to understand the brony phenomenon.

I loved being a Brony in what I considered its "Golden Age" (2010-2013, joined in 2012) but the fandom hasn't wowed me as of late when compared to when I first joined and since a lot of my favorite creators have moved on, I felt I should too. I still watch the show and enjoy it quite a bit but the fandom isn't my cup of tea anymore. I more so go to older fan created videos and feel the ever present nostalgia every once in awhile.
