I see a Dota thread, so here's my Smite thread!

I generally am a mid laner, but am exceedingly flexible in my role placement, but if you want things done, put me in that middle. We got this.

Do people here play Smite? What roles and Gods do you guys like? Anyone take this game anywhere near as seriously as I do?

I tried Smite once, really liked it. I have no idea why I didn't get back into it.

Now is the best time to get back into Smite, we've just gotten started into Season 3, and everything is fresh and (somewhat) new. Specifically the relic system instead of the way Actives used to work.

I might do that. Who's a good character I should start with? When I played it the first time, I used Guan Yu.

Guan Yu is a good choice. Depending on what role you are wanting to play (Mid, Jungle, ADC, Support or Solo) I can give recommendations on who are the easier Gods to pick up.

I have a large amount of time in Smite but i'm the kind of person that only plays 3v3 so i don't play much Conquest. But my main type of god is tanky gods like Sobek and Wukong.

If that's the same name you use in smite, then you have more in-match time than I do. That's... scarily impressive. Though like you said, a lot of it is Joust.

Yah I have like 1500 3v3 games XD. Haven't played much in the past month cause i wanted to wait for Season 3 so that i can try to get into Conquest finally.

I play this game. I play jungle. I'm okay. Cam is better than me, but I do enough to keep up with him.

oh i was there about 6 months before launch, AMC i think was one of the most recent gods released at the time... i think... anyway i play this game daily and love every game mode thus far, though old joust lost its flare once i started playing with 4-5 players. REALLY love siege, perfect balance of players and it doesn't take too long for a match to end.

this game is one of the first that has held my attention for over 2 years, its actually quite fascinating. granted i do play other games, fallout 4 for example took me away from smite for 2 solid weeks, but mostly periodically and only for a short time.

well i love playing tanky gods, so typically im support/solo in conq though in other game modes it all depends. i love to call fill in most lobbies as i can do most roles well, as long as i dont get shutdown early. but joust 3v3's 99% of the time i will be Hercules, that god is just OP in 3v3, well old 3v3 anyway... need to learn the new 3v3 at some point soon.

Nice. Niiiice. Herc can still be pretty OP in S3 Joust, considering how strong hard CC is now with the change to Beads/Purification.

It's really nice to see more people who actually want to fill and enjoy playing support.

Season 3 support seems pretty similar to the end of season 2 so far. Haven't got the chance to play any of the other roles yet, as I normally like to fill.

Support is fun as hell though, so you won't see me complaining.

For everything else, life is really different.

Jungle has different routes and no speed buff, solo has further to travel for blue buff plus some other gods are more viable now, mid lane is burst city, and hunters are actually weaker than they were. They're still hunters, but I mean, they aren't as good as they were.

Oh, I think I'll stick with support for a bit then. Ymir seems to be decent at the moment, from my limited experience and knowledge. How did Geb fair in the patch, do you know? Thinking about picking him up again.

Geb is still very strong. With the way CC is now (the change from Beads to Purification and the lengthy cooldown of it) Geb shield is just... it's actually a life saver.

Yeah, I thought he might be alright. New actives are so fun though, having curse on support in lane just got at least 3 times better. Heavenly at level 1? You got it!
