To get this back on topic, the Season 6 DVD set just released yesterday. I got it in the mail and I have to say, the cover design is by far the most boring cover that I've seen for any of the Lawyer Friendly Equines DVD releases. And for the record, the Background Orange messup on the cover is actually on the cover. It's not a messup exclusive to my copy. Don't believe me, look it up on Amazon...

Looks like she had too much coffee and her eye glitch-twitched out.
What's even funnier is that they use the same exact vector on the inside of the cover and there's no glitchy eye! So they didn't even bother to fix it on the actual cover. So damn lazy!:ollie>:c:

This was a while ago, but something I still felt like mentioning. The Blu-Ray for the Lawyer Friendly Equines Movie had its release date, cover, and special features revealed the other day which you can check here. The Glue Factory Daily - Lawyer Friendly Equines Stuff!: Special Features for DVD and Blu-Ray Release of Lawyer Friendly Equines Movie Detailed

Personally, I'm honestly disappointed with this release. For one thing, I don't particularly care for their use of the second poster for the cover mostly because I don't care for the second poster in general. There's too much going on and I don't like how the lighting is put behind all the characters making the colors all dark and bleh.

On top of that, while I consider it the better cover, I don't care much for the Target cover either. It's basically just the Mane Six's faces from the movie merch and it's pretty boring. Plus, Songbird Serenade is on the cover for some irritating reason as opposed to Spike who is not only more useful in the movie than her, but is constantly being shafted to the backseat already so him being replaced by someone with literally only 3 lines of dialogue. I would've honestly preferred he not be there at all.

And in the case of the special features, I'm mostly disappointed by the lack of a commentary. Especially when all 4 Lawyer Friendly Hominids movies had a commentary on them. Those were all direct-to-video releases and yet they have it, but the full-fledged theatrical release doesn't? It's one of the easiest special features to do. You literally just have members of the cast/crew watch the movie and comment on it as it happens!

In the end, I'll still end up buying it anyway (probably the Target version for the sake of the better cover), but I'm pretty disappointed with the release overall. The cover doesn't bother me as much as the lack of commentary does though.

I have opinions on this. Asking for forgiveness in advance because this is gonna be a long one...

In regards to how valid I think the Lawyer Friendly Equines leaks are:

The new intro is probably real depending on the validity of the episode list and given that the episode synopses line up with the intro as well as the footage shown at Hascon this year, they're probably both real.

However, Season 9 being the final season is a maybe, but only truly a rumor until we get official confirmation from The Toy Company. My thoughts of the supposed Lawyer Friendly Equines Movie sequel/G5 prequel movie are the same.

In terms of the "G5 concept art", I'm extremely skeptical. The designs look really detailed which would make it hard to animate in 2D and I don't think The Toy Company would want to invest the time and money into something that costly and time-consuming. This could just as easily be fan art passed off as a leak by an artistically talented troll, but the leaks in the past couple years have been mostly right, so there's that, and again, not 100% sure until official confirmation.

That being said, if the S9 and G5 rumors are true, it starts to bring up thoughts of what I'm gonna do when this show ends as well as whether I'll continue my love of the show through G5. While I don't necessarily want the show to go on forever (Spongebob, Fairly Odd Parents, and The Simpsons are good examples why), I wonder how I will react to the show ending given how much of my life its become a part of. Lawyer Friendly Equines is the only show where I dived this far into the fandom, be it through merch, fan art, forums, etc. And that depth of involvement I've had makes its eventual end kind of scary and brings up a lot of questions. Will I continue to love the show when no new content is being made (in the case of the show at least, not comics or otherwise)? Will I continue to stay in the fandom with no new official content (again, in reference to the show only)? Will I stay if I don't like the 5th Generation that will eventually take its place? Guess I won't truly know until it happens, and the best I can do is hope G4 ends on the best damn note the staff can possibly muster, hope the fandom stays strong after the fact, and hope G5 will follow the standard left by its predecessor and be just as good, if not better.

Yeah. If the show does end on a bad note it would sour my thoughts about it being over, even though if it did that might be proof it should be dropped, even though they still have had some great episodes.

G5 being just a reboot of the current show and being so close to the end of the last one doesn't seem like a good idea imo. Sure it would get more pony content and people would be glad to see their g4 favorites come back, but I think that it should come out years later and have other characters. (Trying to think of how to express what I'm feeling/thinking about this) I guess I'd like something like a legend of Korra as opposed to a been 10. Something with new characters that stands on its own with the chance of characters you've grown to love having a chance to pop up or past actions effect the current series rater than a weird off shoot for the sake of continuing a popular franchise using the same characters. (I hope the point I'm trying to say comes through. :/ )

The Toy Company would have likely done this had the show cratered in popularity, and the franchise needed to be left alone for a bit for people to forget, but by all accounts it's still bringing in the cash. They would want a fast handover to the new gen so not to interrupt the money flow.

I've not been following the show and fandom to the same extent I once did, but I'm still saddened to see it go. On the other hand, the show was only supposed to hit syndication numbers with two and a half seasons. Remember when Bookworm Hoers's wings was supposed to be the grand finale? Perhaps for the finale movie MA Larson comes back and gives everyone wings! 9 years for a cartoon made to shill toys is not a bad run.

The fandom's still so huge that fan content creators should still keep ticking away for some time. It's whether the 'G5 is an abomination/we should give G5 a chance/G5 is better than G4' wars become unbearable.

Doctor Who fandom has survived over 50 years of regeneration and showrunner wars, and Lawyer Friendly Equines fandom has lasted over 30 years. But I'm not sure what will happen to Brony fandom.

I agree. I feel that'd be the perfect way to start off a new generation. After the show that I've grown to love so much ends, I wouldn't want something immediately put there to replace it. Kind of seems like bad taste, especially if the show doesn't live up to the generation before it.

Yeah, it seems the logical thing to do for the sake of business, but I'd rather them go the Korra route. Plus, with the time in between generations, they could release a buttload of merch that the brony fandom would jump all over. Like more Guardians of Harmony figures based on the show or based on what if's the fandom has come up with based on the show. Maybe some more releases of the music, both score and songs. Perhaps a Blu-Ray release of the complete series with a bunch of awesome new special features and junk. That'd be my preferred route.

That's something that always comes to my mind when I think of the potential end of the fandom. Other fandoms that blew up like this, Star Trek, Star Wars, Doctor Who, etc, have stuck around years after the original sources of those fandoms popped up. It's definitely something that gives me hope that the brony fandom continues on after the fact.

And similar to how divided the fandom is on things just concerning G4 and Lawyer Friendly Hominids, the G5 vs G4 will be fun to witness.

If it does fade, I don't think it'll be for awhile. We have all sorts of people who will undoubtedly still make pony stuff after it ends and lots of people have formed friendships from the fandom that will last (not me. I'm lonely. T_T lol)

For sure there will be comparisons, especially with it coming out not long after the end.

There'd be comparisons regardless of how long the time in between releases would be. It's as inevitable as The Last Jedi being compared to Empire Strikes Back.

I haven't really made friendships in the fandom either. Not anything like the friendships I have outside the fandom anyway.

If the new show is going to be in ToonBoom, that shouldn't really be a problem as you can pull off some impressive detailing in that. For example look at the shading, freckles and scales on Skystar here:
character5.png.9d17da63cc9dd997e82fa75ef0c9d290.png

It would be The Toy Company wanting to cheap out on the toys that would probably get those designs simplified.

As for fandom, I do believe it will stick around, the epic drama will no doubt keep burning for a good while. But hopefully a few chill spaces manage to keep going too.

Plus some years down the line The Toy Company might create some nostalgia G4 stuff, like they do for G1 now.

I guess that could be the case depending on how much easier/faster/cheaper using ToonBoom would be vs Flash. I'm not an animator so I have no idea, but I do know that flash is a pain in the butt to use based on hearing it from multiple sources and I also know that DHX isn't as experienced in ToonBoom as much as Flash hence the several years it took to make the movie vs the show'sconsistent release schedule of one full season per year (added to the multitude of Lawyer Friendly Hominids content since the first movie). That's also up for debate though because The Toy Company could just as easily get another studio to animate in ToonBoom if it's beneficial to them in the long run.

Plus some years down the line The Toy Company might create some nostalgia G4 stuff, like they do for G1 now.
That's what I'm hoping for! Lol. If there's one thing that companies are under the impression of (regardless of how true it is), nostalgia sells!

I don't normally talk about this IP on this site, since it feels kind of awkward, but here goes. I don't know what to feel about the leaks at all, whether it's true or not.
On one hand, the show hasn't consistently captured my interest since around season 6. I've been saying for a long time that the show has stagnated for me. The characters are so familiar that it's become predictable to me. Even the songs all feel similar to me now. What I've wanted is a focus on a new cast of characters or environment, and a new generation with a new style could do just that.

The movie was really captivating for me. I know some people think it's meh, but I just wanted to be entertained, and it did that for me. The new animation style and fresh characters/songs really caught my interest. It was almost enough to get me back into the fandom. It gave me the excitement I felt when I watched the show for the first time. A new generation could replicate that for me.

In regards to the fandom ending? Again, I don't know what to think. For one, I stopped interacting with it years ago. For another, I feel like this could mean it ends before I did everything I wanted to (then again, I always had a feeling the fandom would die out before I could go to a convention). Then again, I feel the fandom has gone downhill, so it shrinking doesn't sting as much. I knew it would become less friendly and more cynical as time went on. I don't feel at all welcome in the fandom since Season 1, Season 2 and Lauren Faust are now openly mocked, as are those who preferred her direction of the show. In fact, I feel actively uncomfortable interacting with it nowadays, for this and a few other reasons.

With all that said, I still am not sure I want it to end. As much as I'm ashamed to say it, the IP was a huge part of my life at one point, and though I don't watch the show itself with the same vigor, I still have passion for the characters and a psychological attachment to it. The prospect of it ending didn't seem real when I first heard this rumor. In some odd way, it just doesn't feel right.

I don't why I still have such an attachment to an IP I lethargically consume official content of. Perhaps it would be best for it to end, just so I could move on from it, as I want to do.
Do I believe the leaks? Hard to say. On one hand, I don't think such a big company would quit while they're ahead at only 9 seasons. Then again, if the reboot is actually just the same story with a new artstyle, it's not much of a risk, with a potentially huge reward.

^same.

It's had a good run, I've had my fun. Thanks for the memories ^.^ Hope they stick the landing and end on a high note.

PS: Season 1 ftw.
TBH, I only started getting into it around season 3, which seemed to be when the fan base was starting to be acknowledged. Honestly could have walked after the first 2.

One important point to make about the G5 leak is this one will affect the toyline. Before they were just messing with the toy adverts, but now The Toy Company's competitors know when a big rollout is going to happen. I imagine The Toy Company is pretty peeved. I wouldn't be surprised if the initial plans and timelines are all scrapped. But hopefully they don't try to deal with it by pulling it forward. First that's less G4, but also from what I've seen of the emails they were complaining the original timescale wasn't enough time as it was.

Anyway, it's Christmas, so have something a little sweeter as a palate cleanser from all the corporate espionage:

I'm more interested in what is going on in the comics, given it pertains to what happens for the season 8 stuff. I mean, Sunbottom Tyrant had a thousand years to pay back the Griffins for land they loaned, and decided not to pay because the paperwork was lost due to improper filing methods 800 years back. Why there's a giraffe and a sentient gorilla at the conference by no Zebras is a puzzler. Also, I loved the Brony Christmas Carol.

I need to catch up with the comics. I haven't read anything past the movie prequel comics and the "From the Shadows" arc (the last arc of Volume 12). Although I don't see myself ever being 100% caught up just because I prefer to wait until the full volumes come out before I actually bother trying to read them. I'm not very patient when it comes to storylines that last multiple issues so I don't like the idea of having to wait a month or longer to answer a previously set up cliff hanger.

I just need to read the comics in general. I hear they're really good.
They're on par with the show. Sometimes good, sometimes bad, sometimes meh. Depends on the arc and the person you talk to, but personally I feel it matches the show well enough and usually does a good job of expanding on the show lore. I recommend it.

So apparently more supposed G5 concept art has surfaced. Still not 100% sure it's real, but with the amount of art on display with similar themes, I am starting to believe it's true.

I need to catch up on the comics, but they generally seem more aware of the wider audience (the first volume had references to Indiana Jones and the original IT). Plus, due to not having the time restrictions as the show, the pacing is a lot better.

I've still to watch the last half-dozen eps of S7, plus the movie. I didn't manage to get around to watching the movie in theaters either, alas.
Haven't really seen much of season 7. I've pieced a lot of the movie together from clips online, and whilst there's some cringe, it's actually pretty good.

I don't expect it to be as bad as Lawyer Friendly Hominids, and I like those well enough XD

As to the eps, a big part of the reason I fell behind is, quite simply, I'm lazy. I also type out things I notice and thoughts when first run through an episode, which makes it take 2 or 3 times as long to watch.

I've been doing a rewatch from season 1. It's so weird, I haven't watched these for 6 years, yet they are so familiar thanks to being so well meme'd.

Also I can't believe this got past the censors!

Yeah, I think I remember Seasons 1 and 2 a lot more than most of the other seasons. Not to say that Seasons 3-7 are bad by any means, but when we only had two seasons of the show to go off of, it was easier for me to rewatch the entire series in anticipation for the next season so I ended up watching Seasons 1 and 2 at least 4 times (maybe more, I honestly don't remember it was so long ago). Plus, I had a lot more time on my hands and a lot less things to get in the way of me balancing several tv shows, movies, and video games. Not so much anymore, stupid adult life
:olliesad:

Sappy story below. You've been warned.
Reminiscing on the show back during the first two seasons reminds me of a couple months ago when I was looking through my digital LFE episodes and renaming them so they'd be better organized. I would watch the first few minutes of each episode up to the title so I could name it correctly and it made me sort of nostalgic for when I first got into the series and how far both I and the series itself have come since then. It's honestly hard to believe that I've been a fan of the show for 5 of the 7 years it's been on with at least another 2 before ending and making way for G5 (based on rumors anyway). It also got me thinking about what I'm gonna do when this show is over and I don't have anything else that I'm this associated with the fandom for to the same extent as LFE. With no new official content out, I'm honestly unsure if I'll stay in the fandom after the show is over even if I still enjoy the show long after it finishes its run on television. Not to mention whether I'll be a fan of the supposed G5 series that is planned to take its place. And while they're still be comics being released that have to do with FIM, because I don't stay too up to date on the comics like I do the show (I tend to wait for the full volume releases before I read them), I don't know if that'll be enough for me to really stick with the fandom seeing as the show is the main catalyst for me joining in the first place. It makes me kind of sad to think about due to the uncertainty of it all.

I know, right? I've never been on a stage (or even seen one face to face) in my entire life, but I've had an interest in stage performances of any kind for years. It kind of prickles my nerves that the Mane 6 don't seem to have any knowledge of how stage magic performances work (or heck, ANY kind of stage performance). In this case, Trixie's boasting was obviously a little over the top (and just so happened to not be an act) but still, she didn't actually do anything illegal as far as I'm aware.

It's kind of funny when Spike is told to "let her go" at the end. What were they going to do? Send her to prison? lol
