Fanfiction: A Discussion

Probably going to be slow going for a while since we dont know much about the characters and their relationships to eachother but the more we get to know them I reckon this thread is gonna take off.
Okay, how about you do a quick story based on how Paprika is acting in my avatar. ^ ^ That way you have a base to do from.
By the way when I mean quick, I'm thinking like two paragraphs for laughs.
Also not a bad idea for a section of the forums.
"Paprika, there's nothing there." the poor calf said, promptly planting his hoof into his face, yet again (any more hoof-plantings and he was sure that it would become permanent).
"But it's so green! And SHINY!" she cried, hopping up and down on the spot.
"Paprika," the calf said desperately, "please, you're in a match!"
"Can I touch it?" she mused, putting a hoof to her chin as she stared into the sky.
"Can I just go?" Arizona asked, looking at the young calf that was their referee.
The young calf let out a defeated sigh. "Yeah, go ahead.... I'll see if I can bring her back from wherever she's gone off to..."
"I think I can!" she said with more cheer then was most likely healthy.
"Papri-" he began, but didn't quite finish as Paprika reached a hoof into the sky, and was quite suddenly electrocuted on the spot. Granted, she was simply fine (if not a little charred) once the green bolts had finished running through her, but it was still rather disconcerting to watch all the same (after all, it's not every day one gets to see the skeletal structure of an Alpaca).

Right now? Well, I have a tab open with an Lawyer Friendly Equines fanfic I'm working on, and once that's done, I have to get back to work on my novel...so...I'll pas.

Tianhuo stared at the scroll in front of her.
"...this is a joke." She looked up at the messenger. "This has to be a joke."
"No, ma'am."
The Longma's mane began to flicker and crackle dangerously, but her face remained stoic. "Fœnum is truly endangered. To the point where Huoshan has chosen, as their champion, the captain of their very guard. This is a threat that could blacken the land, set the rivers flowing with blood, and tear down all that we have built."
She tapped the scroll. "And you mean to tell me that the potential allies I have on this journey, the best the other preykin have to offer, are these... misfits?!"
The messenger winced. "That... is correct, ma'am."
"A magic-reliant self-absorbed glory-seeking diva who would break down if she so much as chipped a hoof. A teenage delinquent consorting with dark forces, only helping because the rest of her race are too passive to give a snag. An alpaca, whom might have actually been one of the more competent and useful companions had not she been so crazed her own people shoved her out as soon as she could! And not one, but two children! One of whom cowers behind her pets and is only helping because her kin interpreted a basic sense of morality as a force of personality, and the other being so arrogant she snuck her name into the selection process and challenged her own father to a duel!"
Tianhuo's fetlocks burned bright as she slammed her clawed hooves into the table. "These are what the people of Fœnum think will save them from predators?!"
"...Apparently, ma'am." The messenger, ever a professional, managed to keep his gaze locked on her. "I am, myself, also somewhat perturbed. Ma'am."
The captain swiped the scroll off the desk with a snarl, stomping over to the window of her office. "Truly, we live in dangerous times. What mad god of fate has arranged this? What sick and twisted thoughts went through their mind as they penned this chapter of history?"

"WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!" The bewinged and singularly horned tall white pony threw up her hooves as she surfed the fold up table down the stairs.
"Faust! Have you been drinking the story-writing ink again?!"
"Uh..." The pony grabbed her red mane and wiped some offending black smudges from her lips. "Nope!"

Oddly enough, I've always figured that Tianhuo would be the kind of ungulate to start out this way, and then, upon defeat, be super buddies with Arizona.
Makes sense to me. I mean, she's really the only one who got the job due to her merits. The others (save AZ, 'cause she technically cheated) got there because their own species didn't care.
EDIT: Though I also see her growing to respect Olly due to her power and resenting Velly for her attitude (though begrudgingly acknowledging her power)

How do you think Tian would treat Pom? Given Tian's backstory, I suspect that seeing her would fill the guard captain with regrets or a sense of duty to protect her.

But on topic, I think Paprika will be the kind of friends with everyone kind of character but no one considers her a friend at first because of how out there she is.
Well, obviously, the big question is when do they give up and go, "yeah she's a part of the team..."
What if Papy's mental state is actually vincible? Like, what if she, at some point, gets a reality check. Then again, there's always the angle of 'She knows all too well what's actually going on, but does what she does anyway for reasons known only to her.'
And yes, I know vincible wasn't quite the word I was looking for, but I didn't want to say fragile or something akin to that.

Hmm, some time around when she saves one of them from something really dangerous/life threatening and she's like "What?" with a big smile on her face like of course you'd do that for me as well.

Perhaps short things like above might also be appropriate, provided it doesn't take up too much space. Though, that might not work out in the long run. Perhaps it indeed would be best to simply use this post to link fanfics, and discuss them.
Actually, now that I think about it, I wonder if it would be wise to have two different threads for that? One for links, another for discussion?
I say to use links mostly because if more then one writer were to begin posting here, then I fear something would get lost or perhaps skipped in the process. Plus, it helps those who are looking for a cerain fic to find what they seek.
If I knew how to make a sight like fimfic, I'd honestly be tempted to make one for TFH.
