This is the risk I was attempting to avoid. If at all possible I had hoped for a clean grab-and-go scenario, without need for battering down the front door. Even if we could fight through all of the forces within, we would encounter the remaining forces outside once we were through. Distracted or not, it seems like a bit much to handle for our team.
If we could manage this it would be good, but there is likely to be a lot of confusion, and we may easily become lost trying to find our way back to it, especially if it is on another level. It comes to mind that my personal assistant is very capable, and easily my equal in magical ability. He is also quite small, allowing him to fit inside a protective enclosure from the steam. Zero's mouth might do. We would of course need some sound cover, but I know a few creatures who are good at making noise. *glances at Weylyn*
How capable is Fluffy at ice magic? As recapturing the captured scouts was part of the plan all along, the fireproof team could break in, and then Fluffy could cool the tunnel on the way out. I do believe the Hunter's compound is underground, so we could even burrow downward during our initial entry, so that the steam could rise and escape out of that hole on the way out.
Excellent! I like the sound of this. By that point noise shouldn't be a problem, as the alarm will no doubt be sounded anyway, and speed of escape will be the only concern. As for Fluffy, knives may be her weapon of choice, but I'm sure with a large enough helping of Golden Oats (only our finest, of course!) she could manage it. Ahem, assuming she can, ahh, hold them down, of course
Edit: We would lose a member of the stealth team, but we can find other capable hooves for that, no doubt. We still could use some Ungulates for the Firepower list though.

Well, as I said, we could go either "Fluffy pretends to become an initiate of the Hunters" or "Fluffy is a scout who kills a few lookouts then gets captured." Both have their pros and cons. Actually, they are exactly opposite. Pros to the first plan, it gives time for Fluffy to discover the locations of the hostages and she is more likely to be able to assist us the moment we break in. Cons, that more time also gives more time for the Hunters to discover her trickery or potentially try to brainwash her and even if it doesn't work it could hinder her. Pros to the second plan are the exact opposite of cons to the first, they capture her, throw her with the rest of the scouts, and have very little time to try and brainwash her. Plus she gets to kill a few lookouts. Cons to the second plan, no time to map out the facility and little chance of finding her right when we emerge.
We have one real question to answer here. Fluffy has now become INVALUABLE to the mission. Our primary exit route it now DEPENDENT on her to succeed. We have to ask, if we send Fluffy in as a recruit she can get more things done that could help the mission run smoothly, but how certain are we that they won't see through her cover and foil the plan?
Too me the first plan seems unfeasible due to time constraints. As I mentioned earlier, that plan relies on the Darkside executing their banishment in a public way without being obvious, the Hunters falling for the ploy and being willing to pick her up right away, and her subsequently finding time to report to us about the facility. All before our attack. Which the Hunters are, and have been, aware of for a dangerous amount of time already.
I don't like this either, but at worst case, the fire-proof tunnelers should be able to make it back out the heated tunnel, leaving Fluffy and the hostages to fend for themselves while we regroup to take the place by force.
Agreed on all counts. So to regroup at our current point we have Fluffy and the scouts on reconnaissance and infiltration, Zero and Gaosung on extraction, and you and I on "diplomacy." I can admit Weylyn has good points about how they might perceive me. I would still like your assistance in this mission, both as an extra set of eyes to watch our backs and to provide additional conversational pressure. I hate to put you in this position, but if I took point, came forward as the leader with you "serving" as my aide/second it could reinforce the image of import and power further.

Ahem, uhm, yes. That is a good idea too. That leaves us back at deciding who to mount the diplomatic force though. Three members could be possible, but having too many could provide an air of weakness, that we feel we need this many to be safe. I think there should definitely be a "primary" diplomat who takes the lead both physically and in conversation, with one or two "secondary" diplomats in assistance. Another tough decision, thoughts?

Then consider this. An's scouts have the aerial problem taken care of, and with Dungeon's offer, diplomacy seems to be taken care of. I offer to be a captive. I would hate for anyone to think that I would ask of them a risk that I am not willing to take myself, and my Ice Magic should more than suffice to freeze the tunnels. And with both of us captives, any...issues between me and the stunted one should be prevented.
I wouldn't stoop to lie. However, I will say that today there are higher priorities.

I apologize deeply Ambassadeer. You know I would never ask one such as yourself to lower yourself more than standing a step or two back and allowing me to take the lead and perform a majority of the talking. I respect your council far to much to ever ask you to inconvenience yourself more than that. But your alternative is sound. With you and Fluffy working in tandem to cool the tunnel escape could occur far more quickly than either alone, and should Fluffy prove... incapable, for one reason or another, you are a practiced ice mage who could handle the task perfectly well. Depending on the intensity of pursuit you could also cool the tunnels while Fluffy helps the others cover your backs. Meanwhile Dungeon and I could take diplomacy. It raises the question once more of who would take point or if someone should take point at all. If I take point, it is the symbol of my militaristic might backed by the support of the entire UFC making one last chance for their surrender, regardless of what we actually say. If Dungeon takes point, it is a united front making accessions with a military power held in reserve. If we approached side by side as equals, it's more of a "good cop, bad cop" image, but also undermines the image of a strong, singular purpose.
Honesty, I doubt the possibility of a diplomatic success in this case, so whatever you feel most comfortable with should be fine, as we are mainly distracting them. That said, I believe I should be part of the stealth team, ambushes were how my family survived in the hold and I picked up a few things.

I disagree. As head councilman it is my duty to do everything I can to make diplomacy work. I will go there with the full intent of releasing the captive through peaceful means. If that fails, then I will defer to our Imperial representative, but only once I am sure that we cannot come to terms.
Heat burrowing is a slow process anyway, we'll need time to reach the Hunters' cave. We can start before the parley and break in when... if they fail.

OOC: Might I propose choosing an IRL date for putting this whole thing into action? And on the day in question, the dice are rolled and then we all try and figure out what in Foenum actually happened in the few days after. This would give a chance to clearly define what is being rolled for, and give us all time to basically be ready (and if possible present) for the day in question.

In fact, I had planned on remaining completely silent until after whatever happened next happened, but then things were happening that kinda directly involved the Hunters, and given that he's kinda the leader of them, it seemed like staying silent would have been the bad choice.
I agree with OC, we should try to plan this out on a certain day at a certain time, one we can all (If not, most of us) attend.
Agreed. I was hoping it would get done by today, but that didn't pan out. I won't be available much Fri-Sun, though the afternoon is a possibility (PST). Sunday I can be up later. Mon-Wed I'm off work and available pretty much whenever.

I like to think that Zero has access to the internet even in Foenum, he just doesn't use it often. Well, more like, he doesn't want to confuse the ungulates even more.
Alright, that fits with the theme of you taking point and me being a secondary assistant in the discussion. This will put much of the weight of diplomicizing on you, but I think you'd prefer it that way anyways.
